Business process outsourcing in the Philippines is one of the fastest industries in the country to date. The Philippine government has managed to find ways to improve the standards and quality of work of this industry. It has helped about 300,000 Filipino people find jobs who have contributed to the development of this industry. And the government still aims at inviting more foreign investors to put up their hard-earned money into the country by taking advantage of the low cost employment and production expenses. Currently, multi-national companies like Dell, IBM, Ebay and Paypal, among others, outsource their customer support services abroad. It won’t be long when most western-owned companies will outsource their support services abroad.

BPO in the Philippines is manned with well-trained and well-educated people who can speak the English language fluently. This is probably due to the kind of education they have learned in school. They are also taught how to use computers and the Internet which make them adapt easily to the new technologies implemented at work. These people are known to be flexible making them work 24-hours which is appropriate for the different time zones of American and European customers.

Philippines is known worldwide to have cheaper labor and operational costs aside from the higher number of skilled labor who can speak English proficiently than its other Asian counterparts. How various software and other technologies are installed make them an excellent venue for business process services. Foreign investors are also pleased with the enormous return of investments. Hence, they offer strategic locations for BPOs all over the country.

The call center outsourcing services is a major industry in the country. It holds offices not only in major cities like Manila and Cebu, but in provincial areas like Baguio, Tacloban, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and many more. This benefit has provided countless quality employment opportunities to Filipinos nationwide, thus helping reduce unemployment particularly to fresh-university graduates who are seeking for entry level jobs. And the government plans and hopes to develop intensive training for agents particularly to those working in customer support, and facilities to cater to this industry.

Business process outsourcing in the Philippines is highly competitive in the global market. In fact, it ranks second to India in terms of outsourcing services. Other Asian countries like Singapore and China are also competing globally, in terms of technology and performance but not as much as the Philippines do worldwide.
